The fish collection of the Department of Zoology of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul includes mainly freshwater species, collected throughout the state of Rio Grande do Sul and in some regions of Brazil. The collection includes more than 16,000 lots cataloged, preserved in ethanol, including cleared and stained specimens and a collection of tissues for DNA extraction.
