The "Coleção de Protozoários (COLPROT)" , Protozoa Collection, comprises isolates from the Trypanosomatidae family with an amazing repertoire of genera. The collection includes several Trypanosoma cruzi isolates (obtained from human patients or sylvatic reservoirs), several species from this genera such as: T. evansi, T. brucei, T. conorhini, T. desterriensis, T. freitasi, T. lewisi, T. rangeli, T. vespertilionis, T. mega, T. cervi, T. ranarum, T. avium. The collection also includes a wide variety of plant and insects trypanosomatids, from 8 genera, as well as free-living protozoa (Euglena and Bodo), and several isolates still waiting taxonomic identification. The isolates represent both reference strain and unique samples donated by the researchers that isolated the microorganism.
