The Collection of the Culicidae houses just over 5.400 specimens, bringing copies mainly of the Neotropics, including type material of species described by the laboratory staff and material testimony of the projects (biodiversity, taxonomy, ecology of mosquitoes). The collection this collection is used as support for the service reference laboratory, solving problems of identification of specimens, while still maintaining a permanent consultation service, storage, identification, loan, and transfer specimens to taxonomists of other institutions. Delivering a paper yet educational-learning, some specimens are kept for donation to institutions such as schools, universities and museums, for special events.
