summary

The Fonoteca Neotropical Jacques Vielliard (FNJV), associated with the Museum of Zoology "Adão José Cardoso" at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), founded in 1978, is one of the five largest animal sound collections in the world and the largest in Latin America. It has sound files of all vertebrate groups and some invertebrates (such as insects and arachnids).

This collection has more than 44,000 recordings cataloged and other thousands (about 20,000) that still are in the process of digitization and cataloging. Most of the records come from Brazil but the FNJV also contains sound files from North America, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. For more details access.

data use restrictions

To download FNJV's sound files it is necessary to request it in a specific form (www.ib.unicamp.br/fnjv/ -> Home -> Requests) and to have the curators permission. Those files must not be reproduced or utilized without the FNJV's authorization.
