summary

Dengue virus (DENV) shows a substantial genetic diversity, evident in the existence of four different serotypes. The collection of Dengue virus of FUNED, currently has 27 DENV isolates, representatives of four different serotypes and genotypes circulating or that have circulated in the state of Minas Gerais/Brazil. The DENV are isolated in C6/36 cells (line derived from Aedes albopictus) and stored in a freezer at -80 ° C, together with the sequence of 511 bp from C-prM junction inserted into plasmid and cloned in Escherichia coli. The database of the samples included in the Institutional Collection contains information from the town of origin, year of collection, nucleotide sequences, viral serotype and genotype. The molecular tools and strategies used to detect viral and / or developed to implement this collection using mainly the real-time PCR and molecular cloning, has contributed to the molecular and epidemiological study of DENV, conducted by Serviço de Biotecnologia e Saúde/Funed.
